Order of Laura Ingalls Wilder Books
Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867-1957) was an American author of the Little House series – a series of children’s novels based on her own life growing up in a pioneer family. Before gaining fame as a novelist, Laura worked as a teacher as well as on the farm. The Little House series has been adapted several times, most notably to a television series that ran from 1974 until 1983. The TV series was then followed by movie sequels.
Laura Ingalls Wilder was convinced to writing the Little House series thanks to her daughter Rose. It is argued whether Rose was a ghostwriter on the series or if she was simply the one to encourage her mother to write Little House in the Big Woods in 1931 (published in 1932). The most famous book in the series, Little House on the Prairie, was published three years later.
