Order of Stuart M. Kaminsky Books
Stuart M. Kaminsky (1934-2009) was an American author of mystery novels, crime fiction and non-fiction books, as well as a film professor. His series characters are Toby Peters, Inspector Rostnikov, Abe Lieberman and Lew Fonesca. He was awarded the title of Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America. Kaminsky grew up in Chicago, where he got his Ph.D in speech from Northwestern University. He got his B.S. in journalism and M.A. in English from the University of Illinois. He went on to teach film studies at Northwestern for 16 years and followed that up with a six year stint at Florida State. At one point, Kaminsky served as president of Mystery Writers of America.
Stuart Kaminsky became a published author with the non-fiction book A Biographical Study of the Career of Donald Siegel and an Analysis of His Films in 1972. Notes: Rostnikov’s Corpse was later re-published as Death of a Dissident. The graphic novel Fever Pitch was collaborated on with Christopher Jones and Barbara Schulz. The graphic novel Kolchak: The Night Stalker Volume One was collaborated on with Joe Gentile and Jeff Rice. The short story collection The Night Stalker Chronicles also contains contributions by Elaine Bergstrom, Max Allan Collins, Peter David, Mark Dawidziak, P.N. Elrod, Ed Gorman, C.J. Henderson, Brett Matthews and Robert E. Weinberg. A Biographical Study of the Career of Donald Siegel and An Analysis of His Films was re-published under the title Don Siegel, Director. Basic Filmmaking was co-authored with Dana H. Hodgdon. Writing for Television was written alongside Mark Walker.
