We’ve seen special editions for DVDs with alternate endings, but now the UK will be getting a special edition of a classic from Ernest Hemingway.

The Random House imprint William Heinemann has purchased the rights to an edition of Hemingway’s novel A Farewell to Arms, which includes an astounding 29 different endings written by Hemingway himself.

The edition includes early drafts of essential passages, the original 1948 introduction by Hemingway, handwritten manuscript pages and original cover art. The novel has already been published in the USA by Scribner.

William Heinemann publishing director Jason Arthur said, “A Farewell to Arms is a work of extraordinary power and resonance, and one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century. We are extremely proud to be upholding its legacy with this expertly curated and beautifully presented edition.”
