A court battle is currently ensuing over the once-home of Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle perhaps being redeveloped. The Undershaw house is located in Hindhead, Surrey.

The house was designed by the author himself and built in 1897. There he wrote 14 Sherlock Holmes stories, including The Hound of the Baskervilles. Over the years, author friends such as J.M. Barrie and Bram Stoker visited the house.
