49 crime authors have called for a healthy online ecosystem for online purchases. The list of authors includes Jo Nesbo, Karin Slaughter, Ian Rankin and Lee Child.

British author Stephen Leather has recently admitted that he uses fake online identities in order to promote his works.

John Locke, the American author (not the “Lost” character), has admitted to paying for favourable book reviews.

The letter both condemns the unsavoury behaviour and commits signees to not using such dishonest tactics in order to promote their books.
