With the upcoming release of Calico Joe, John Grisham is looking to release four books this year.

While some have criticized Grisham for becoming too formulaic with his legal thrillers, this is a baseball book featuring a rookie named Joe Castle.

This isn’t the first time Grisham has made a departure from legal thrillers. He’s also written the humourous Skipping Christmas that was adapted into the Tim Allen film “Christmas with the Kranks” in 2004. He’s also written children’s books, surprising readers with his Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer series.

His other novels set to come out in 2012 include May’s Theodore Boone: The Accused and then The Racketeer and The Jailhouse Lawyer in October.
