James Patterson has been very charitable as of late. He is going to donate 3,000 books to the Los Angeles Unified School District. This means that 60 high schools in the school district will each receive a box of Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment books and the 77 middle schools will each get a box of Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life.

In other news, he’s also going to be awarding 18 lucky students from Manhattan College with scholarships. Manhattan College is his alma matter. Eight juniors and eight seniors will be receiving $5,000 scholarships.

“That school was always dedicated to educating the lower and middle class, and really getting students to understand that they had a moral imperative to give back,” Patterson told the Daily News.
