Martha Grimes, author of the Richard Jury mystery series, is switching from Viking to Scribner.

Grimes has been with the Penguin imprint since 1999 and has now signed with Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, for three books.

The first book she has on the deal is a memoir co-written with her son about their battles with alcoholism. Next will be a sequel to Foul Matter, which was a spoof of the publishing industry in the form of a crime fiction novel that was released in 2004. The final on the deal will be her first Richard Jury novel in four years, titled Vertigo 42, to be published in 2014.

Scribner has also obtained eBook rights to 19 of Grimes’ backlist, making her books available for the first time in that format.
