J.K. Rowling may have hit the peak of her success with Harry Potter, but she still has high hopes for her first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy. The title, along with a brief plot synopsis, was released Thursday by Little, Brown & Co.

It will be set in an English town called Pagford, opening with the sudden death of a well-liked man that shocks the town. The whole town turns out to be at war, pitting rich against the poor, parents against teens and husband and wives at odds.

Her Harry Potter novels have sold a total of 450 million copies.

The book will be released worldwide on September 27th. It will be available in hardcover and eBook formats.
