Warner Bros. has acquired film rights for Jo Nesbo‘s upcoming thriller novel The Son. The film will be produced by Kevin McCormick’s Langley Park company.

The novel is about a young man in prison for crimes committed by others. His father, supposedly a corrupt cop, commits suicide. When he finds out his father was honest and was murdered, he escapes in order to avenge his father’s murder. Nesbo will act as executive producer alongside Niclas Salomonsson. The novel will be published in 2014.

Nesbo is one of the premiere Scandinavian crime fiction authors, alongside The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo author Stieg Larsson.
