Anna Quindlen is an American author of women’s fiction and family saga novels and non-fiction books. She is also a journalist and opinion columnist who won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 1992 for her New York Times column Public and Private. Quindlen gave up journalism in order to become a full-time novelist in 1995, but then started writing for Newsweek in 1999, which ran until 2009. She is a vocal critic of materialism in American culture. Anna lives in New York City with her husband, Gerald Krovatin – a New Jersey attorney. (more…)

The Riyria universe consists of two series of high fantasy novels by American novelist Michael J. Sullivan. The first series, the Riyria Revelations is set in a time where kings ruled, knights served them and where much of the wilderness was uncharted. Elves are former slaves who are still shunned by the rest of society. Dwarves are stuck in the ghettos, and have very valuable skills, but are kept away from the humans. There are lots of swordfights, castle sieges, great mythical beasts, battles at sea, magic, intrigue and romance. The series follows the adventures of Hadrian Blackwater, an ex-soldier/mercentary, and a thief named Royce. Michael J. Sullivan is an American author of epic/high fantasy and science fiction novels. He is best known for his Riyria series. Michael began writing in 1979 and continued until 1994, to no success whatsoever. He decided to quit writing, which lasted eight years and he finally had to get his ideas onto paper once again. His only condition was that he wouldn’t even try to get published. The idea was to just write for friends and family, but his wife Robin convinced him to get published. (more…)

Marcia graduated from UCLA with a Political Science degree and then earned her J.D. at the Southwestern University School of Law. David Gemmell (1948-2006) was an English author of heroic and historical fantasy novels. He is the author of the Drenai Saga and Sipstrassi series. Gemmell began trying to write in the ’70s, but the end result was not quite what he desired. Then, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, he went back to writing, as his goal was to have at least one novel published before he died. His cancer was a misdiagnosis, but the novel ended up being published as Legend. Following his third novel, Waylander, Gemmell became a full-time novelist. (more…)

Aside from being a novelist, Lauren also owns Acorn Book Services and works as a publishing manager, consultant, editor, cover and layout designer and market agent.
