Grace Livingston Hill was an American author best known for her inspirational romances featuring young Christian women. Born in Wellsville, New York in 1865 to a writer mother and a Presbyterian minister father, she began writing as a child, contributing to her aunt’s children’s magazine. After the death of her first husband, Hill turned to writing full time to support her family, eventually publishing over 100 novels and numerous short stories. Though her early works were overtly religious, she later adapted her style to reach a broader audience.

Grace Livingston Hill made her debut as a novelist in 1887 with A Chautauqua Idyl. Her final novel, Mary Arden, was completed posthumously by her daughter. Below is a list of Grace Livingston Hill’s books in order of when they were originally released:

Her life takes another turn when Jefferson Lyman, a charming and wealthy newcomer, enters the picture, bringing along the glamorous and possessive Isabel Cresson. As Jefferson begins to pursue Marion in earnest, their growing connection is threatened by Isabel’s jealousy – and the mystery behind the roses may hold more significance than Marion ever imagined.

Just as Sherrill begins to believe she might find happiness again, an heirloom emerald necklace vanishes – and suspicion points to Graham. But the stranger’s gentle manner and promise to handle the details put her at ease. Moved by his kindness, Frannie finds her feelings for him deepening with each passing day.

Yet a divide looms between them—he comes from the affluent side of the river, while Frannie’s roots lie in hardship. As whispers, envy, and hidden agendas swirl around them, the bond they’ve begun to build is put to the test. Will outside forces tear them apart, or lead them toward a deeper trust in love and faith?

In White Orchids by Grace Livingston Hill, Camilla Chrystie was beginning to lose hope. Working side by side in a race against time, the two formed an unexpected bond, one that brought comfort, warmth, and a spark of something more.

But once their crisis passed, he returned to his glittering world, leaving Camilla to wonder if their connection had meant as much to him as it had to her. Was his promise of love sincere, or just a fleeting kindness? Now, torn between doubt and longing, Camilla must decide whether to follow her heart or protect it from further disappointment.
