I have several dozen Patterson, as well as David Baldacci, Robert Parker, Michael Connelly, Joseph Wambaugh, and others (French, LeCarre, etc.).
I am moving soon and would like to know if anyone purchases books?
Thank you!
Nobody answered the question, what are bookshots? and should they be readin between the other novels?
They are short novels, and yes, although you can also skip them if you want.
What is a bookshot? Should it be read in between two books chronologically by year published?
I don’t remember how long ago it was that I picked up my first James Patterson book, but I have been completely hooked since. the first one I read was ‘Third Degree’ in the Women’s Murder Club series. I have only had one so far that I did not finish, and I can’t rememb er which one it was, but it was a stand alone book…my husband recently read his first one, NYPD Red. it only took him a few days to read. You see, my husband has never been one to read. when he finished it, I told him there were 3 more I had in the series. he put the first one away and brought out the other 3…..he started #2 yesterday, and is almost finished it. he is even shocked as to how fast he is reading it. he hates to put it down, and I think, he is thinking ‘my wife has pretty good taste in books’…lol…and ‘Why have I not done this sooner?’ I believe he will be picking them up as much as I do from here on in
Miracle on the 17th Green and Miracle at Augusta are part of the same series.
Good article, Thanks!

James Patterson became my favorite author when I started to read the Murder Women’s Club series and now I follow to see what are the new books and the sequence of the books I have read, which books to read next and which order on my book shelf. Go James Patterson, I read your books because even though they may or may not have similarities, the ending is not the same at all.
James Patterson co-wrote a non-fiction book with Hal Friedman called Against Medical Advice that is not listed here in 2008.
Is there a sequel to “Cradle and All”? The way the book ended, you would expect a sequel.
summer of the booger eater is survived bullies, etc. New MS book Rafe’s aussie adventure. And Torn Apart also has titles Med Head and Against Medical Advice. Oh and you are missing a Witch and wizard graphic novel operation zero (I think that is the name). Max ride Manga has volume 8 out already as well.
Do you need to read the “Private” series in order?
Thank you.
I would. I’m reading the second book now, and you have to have read the first one to understand who the victim in the second book is.
Can you add the following authors
Judith Krantz
Beverly Jenkins
Mary Monroe (God Don’t Like Ugly Series)
I picked up Mary, Mary at work one knight fell in love with it. I never thought that I would like a that type of novel. I am a Stephen King reader. Now every other book is a James Patterson. My husband is going to build on to our house just for my books, I read about 17 novels a year.
I read about 17 novels every couple of months! My favourite authors at the moment are: Tess Gerritsen, Lynda La Plante, Rosamund Lupton and of course James Patterson.
Sounds like you’ve got a serious case of the bookworm. 🙂
buy a kindle, they r great i just got mine.
Anyone know what year was “The Big Bad Wolf” written, don’t see it on the list.
That’s weird… It’s missing. It would be 2003. I’ll make sure to correct that soon.
Updated now!
Big Bad Wolf was 2003 for the hardcover 1st edition.
yes 2003 and a great read!
Is the a sequel to The Big Bad Wolf? This was the first James Patterson book I ever read then I knew I found my favorite Aurther.
Patterson, Cussler, King, Perry, etc. When they publish, I get it and read it.
Why? Because it is very hard to anything better. I don’t care if they co-write, they
are still good. If you don’t like a book, don’t read it. Unless, of course, you are in
school. Then you have to read it, understand it, and are tested on it.
Peace and happiness to all
Seems like Mr. Patterson is putting out a few books each year… makes me wonder if the quality is that good, or if he is just rushing into them.
17 published in 2012 alone.
No, the quality is THAT good =)
some were republished…
He has co-writers, as do a lot of “popular, best selling” authors, but at least he admits to it! Different co-writers on various books. (for instance: he may come up with the basic plot and characters and then turn it over to the co-writer to actually write the book….not exactly “great lit”!!!)
i’m not sure if you have read any of his books if you asked the question about the quality of his books. they are fabulous books and YES, they are great quality
I love James Patterson novels. My favorites are his stand-alone novels like The Beach House and Lifeguard and then the Women’s Murder Club series.
I think you forgot one of his books published in 2010. It was about a private detective agency, and the name of the book was “Private”.
By the way, I love James Patterson. His books often are somewhat the same, but they quick and easy reads that are hard to put down because they keep you wondering about all of the plot twists and turns.
Some of my favorites are Honeymoon and Beach Road, but I think my ultimate favorite is one of his early novels — Black Friday. I think it may have originally been published under another name, then reprinted in 2000.
Hey beemette,
Thanks for your comments. Private is on there – it’s listed under the “Jack Morgan” series. He has a sequel coming out next year too – January 2nd, actually.
I agree – I really like Patterson. His books are compelling, but structured well so that you can easily flow through them.
I don’t love all of his books, but Alex Cross and the Women’s Murder Club are easily on my must-reads list.
Those two are my favorites as well, along with Michael Bennett, Private, and the entire Book shots series. Only ones I don’t like are the Max Ride series, and other sci-fi stuff.
I liked reading James Patterson at first, but then he got a little repetitive after reading so many of his novels. Anyone else feel the same or am I the only one?
You’re the only one. 😑 James Patterson is amazing, it’s a fact. 🙍
James Patterson is a worldwide phenomenon. Kill Me If You Can is a must-read book! Can’t wait for August to read it.
