Michelle Vernal Synopses: The Cooking School on the Bay is a standalone novel by Michelle Vernal. Tucked away in a quaint seaside village is a cooking school where the lessons go far beyond learning how to fillet a salmon…
Rebecca Loughton has stumbled her way through her thirty-something years, with every misstep made all the more obvious next to her golden-haired, impossibly perfect older sister, Jennifer. Determined to escape her sister’s long shadow – and maybe find her own happily ever after – Rebecca swaps her hometown of Christchurch for a new life in bustling Dublin.
But her fresh start quickly boils down to an awkward one-night stand and a dangerous flirtation with her boss, Ciaran…who’s already being hunted by a predatory receptionist. Just as Rebecca is plotting to avoid that workplace drama, news arrives that Jennifer’s flawless life has cracked wide open – thanks to a cheating husband. Summoned home to look after her sister’s children and run the cooking school while Jennifer salvages her marriage, Rebecca soon finds herself juggling two unruly kids, an eccentric lineup of guests, and the occasional sanity-saving email from Ciaran.
Then she meets David Seagar – a man who seems like he could be the missing ingredient to her happy ending. But Rebecca’s track record in love isn’t exactly Michelin-starred…so is David truly the one, or just another recipe for disaster?
Second-Hand Jane is a standalone chick lit novel by Michelle Vernal. Jess loves all things vintage – especially when they come with a good story attached. Life as a Dublin newspaper columnist suits her just fine…or it would, if not for her meddling mum, who’s convinced Jess’s career is nothing more than a placeholder until Mr. Right arrives. So when Jess meets the charming and oh-so-delectable Nick, her mum is certain he’s the one.
But a spark of inspiration for her column sends Jess north, far from Nick and deep into the rugged Irish countryside. There, she stumbles across a surly pig farmer with a tragic past and a family mystery that’s been buried for years. With the unexpected help of Wilbur – the runt of the litter with more heart than most humans – Jess sets out to lay old ghosts to rest and discovers that first impressions aren’t always what they seem.
Meanwhile, her love life is becoming more tangled than a box of vintage necklaces, and her mum is determined to “fix” things once and for all. Suddenly, Jess’s happy ending seems about as likely as Wilbur sprouting wings and taking flight.
The Traveller’s Daughter by Michelle Vernal is a standalone novel. Jess has a soft spot for all things vintage – and a knack for unearthing a good story. Life as a Dublin newspaper columnist suits her perfectly…if only her meddling mum would stop treating it as a mere warm-up act until Mr Right comes along. When Jess meets the charming and oh-so-delectable Nick, Mum is convinced her matchmaking days are over.
But an irresistible lead for her column takes Jess north to the rugged Irish countryside, where she encounters a surly pig farmer with a tragic past – and a family secret buried for years. With help from Wilbur, the runt of the litter with a surprising knack for heroics, Jess sets out to lay old ghosts to rest and learns that first impressions aren’t always what they seem.
As her love life ties itself in knots and her mum ramps up her “help,” Jess begins to wonder if her happy ending is any more likely than Wilbur sprouting wings.
