Is Samantha Shannon The Next J.K. Rowling?
Oxford undergraduate Samantha Shannon, who has been touted as “the next J.K. Rowling” (no pressure) has signed a six-figure deal with Bloomsbury.
Shannon’s futuristic fantasy novel, The Bone Season, was purchased immediately after Bloomsbury’s editor-in-chief Alexandra Pringle read it.
“Samantha is just fizzing with ideas,” Pringle said. “The book is an utterly consuming adventure and we are committed to the seven books in the series.”
The book will be published in September 2013, soon after Samantha’s graduation from Oxford.
