Jack Ryan has been played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and now Chris Pine (of Star Trek) will apparently be playing the Tom Clancy character. However, Jack Bender will no longer be involved in the project.

Due to the project’s development running on too long, the Lost director had other commitments and had to depart from the project. Shooting will apparently begin later on in the year when Pine is done shooting the Star Trek sequel.

The script has been through about a million different writers. It started with Hossein Amini, followed by Adam Cozad, then Adam Peckham, next Steve Zaillian. Finally, David Koepp has done a polish on the script.

The plot of the movie is a mystery to most, but we expect it to focus on Jack’s early days as a spy.
