Newly Discovered Dickens Letter Reveals Intent to Leave Wife
A very old and stunning letter was found by Dr. Jackie Sheehan in Gloucestershire, England from inside of an old Bible.
It was from legendary author Charles Dickens, offering his wife (and mother to their 10 children) £600 per year so he could start a new life with the 18 year-old Ellen Ternan, an actress.
“This little paperback Bible was in a batch of books which my sister’s mother-in-law was given seven or eight years ago,” said Dr. Sheehan.
The letter is expected to go for upwards of £1,500.
