Star Wars is an epic space opera franchise created by American film producer, screenwriter and director George Lucas. Unlike most creators you see on this site, George Lucas has never written a Star Wars novel, but instead commissioned dozens and dozens of other writers such as John Jackson Miller, Kevin J. Anderson, Rebecca Moesta, Michael Stackpole, Alex Wheeler, Jude Watson, L. Neil Smith, Alan Dean Foster, John Whitman and many others to write the novels based on the popular films.
The Star Wars series began in 1978 with Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, to be followed by hundreds of novels by many different authors. We have listed all of these Star Wars series by their chronology. In cases where series were not published in their chronological order, we have noted that as well.

I cant believe how complicated this all is. I have just finished the Aftermath Trilogy – which was pretty cool – and I already have several other books, but trying to figure out where in the actual bloody hell to go to next is like…impossible! Aaaaah.
(Finished the Bane Trilogy a few months ago – they’re going to have a hard time beating that in terms of awesomeness. And I have read 2-3 other SW books.)
I had begun to read one of the Old Republic books, but I put it down after less than one chapter & am going to have to save those for last because they’re very specific & contain lots of references to …. IDK? the games? Which I havent played yet.
So I lok at lists like this one & its just UNBELIEVABLY complicated & insane trying to figure out what order to go in. I cannot imagine that any other series has such murkiness, even ones that were written in non-chronological order.
Yikes. But these ARE some of the best reading / audiobook listening I’ve ever experienced. Just wish it were more clear where to go. Even looking at this list isnt necessarily foolproof.
Dont even ask me about the canon vs. non vs. Legends & all that. Wow.
