John Sandford Synopses: In Silent Prey (book 4 of the Prey series), An old nemesis of Lt. Davenport’s has broken out of jail (and rather easily too). As bodies keep piling up, Davenport must come to Manhattan in order to assist with the investigation. Also, Davenport goes undercover in order to help nab a vigilante gang responsible for the death of a cop as well as many others.
In Dead Watch, John Winter is selected to investigate the death of a former Republican senator, who had a notable enemy in the governor of Virginia. Was Governor Goodman responsible for his rival’s murder or is it all a set up in order to shoot down the governor’s hopes of becoming president?
The Lucas Davenport series of novels is terrific as is his series of Virgil Flowers books, so engaging, they really grab hold of you and the well-placed humor is the icing on the cake.
WHY are none of the books made into movies or series?
A couple of them were adapted. Certain Pray in 2011 as a TV movie, Mind Prey in 1999 as a TV movie.
I was never much of a reader. My mother in law has a lot of books yours being some of them. One day I picked up a prey book, now I’m on # 19 of prey series. Love them.I found reading to be relaxing. Now I’m in barnesnnoble all the time.Thank you John sanford to opening my eyes to the joy of reading.
I got hooked on John Sandford from listening to ”
Night Prey” while stuck in traffic for hours. I have
been a loyal fan ever since.
keep writing,
John motto
All I can say is that if you are not reading Mr. Sanford’s books, you are missing out.
All of Lucas Davenport Series are awesome, I’ve been following the Prey series since the beginning thanks to my brother Virgil and of course we had to keep up with “Virgil Flowers” too! Now the newest series “Uncaged” “Outraged” and “Rampage” who doesn’t want to know what’s going to happen with Shay?
I just love Lucas Davenport but, more importantly,I love the way Sandford developed Virgil Flowers as a “minor” character into a MAJOR character & I now enjoy reading Flowers’ books more than Lucas….
Do the Kidd novels need to be read in order?
Yes, but just imo they aren’t as good as the “Prey” books or the Virgil Flowers books.
I don’t understand about books that aren’t approved, and can’t be published, why.
John Sandford is my favorite author! His books are so well written and his characters are always interesting. Especially Lucas Davenport and now, Virgil Flowers. I recommend reading the Prey series in order as Lucas Davenport’ s life continues in each one. Of course, some are better then others but they are all worth reading. John Sandford gets five stars from me and if I could give him a hundred-I would!
John Sandford is, in my opinion, the best detective/murder-mystery/ novelist of all time. If you read one of his books in the Prey series, I can just about guarantee you will read them all. Fantastic books with witty dialogue and flowing, easy to read prose make these books hard to put down. It is interesting to see how his characters develop and change throughout the series; and after reading a few of his Prey novels, you really come to care about the characters and want to know how their lives might come to change in the next book of the series. Some of his Prey novels are naturally better than others, but every single one of them will leave you satisfied with the book itself and hungry to read more.
