John Sandford is a journalist from America. He also goes by John Roswell Camp. Why does he go by a different name? This is because the dates of two novels named “The Fool’s Run” and “Rules of Prey” were so close together that they said it’s advisable not to debut and release two novels in that short of time. A pseudonym had to be used for one of his books since the other was sold under the John Camp name. Mr. Sandford has won several awards during his career one being the Pulitzer Price in 1986 and the other being the Distinguished Writing Award of Newspaper Editors in 1985.
Camp has published over thirty one novels and all were in the New York Best sellers list. These novels were all formatted different ways. He also wrote two non fiction books, one is about art and the other is about cosmetic surgery. Some of his books has been interpreted in European, Japanese and Korean languages.
John Sandford has been affiliated with the Albright Institue of Archaeological Research and he’s also been responsible for a significant anthroplogy dig in Israel. He has been the financial supporter of an archaelogical project called the Beth-Shean Valley Archaeological Project. John was a reporter and editor at “The Miami Herald” and an anchor and writer from 1978-1990 for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Today he now and then will do a little journalism. He was also part of an Air Assault Battalion during the Iraq War. John also spent two years serving the army after he graduated from UIOWA (University of Iowa). His service then was spent in Korea.
Born on February 23, 1944 in Iowa, he was a student at a Catholic school and he also went to public schools. When Sandford graduated college, he graduated with a master’s degree in Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in American Studies. He soon met his wife Susan Lee Jones and they married in 1966; they have two children Emily Curtis and Roswell Camp. His wife later passed away of breast cancer in early 2007. Along with archaeology, he is very involved with photography and art painting. You will see that once in a blue moon he will write articles about the two. He likes to read history and is involved ina variety of outdoor sports such as skiing, hunting, canoeing and fishing.
So what are some novels that have been written by Mr. Sandford? There are several series that have been released. Some have asked how many were written before one was approved. This question is important for most amateur authors and writers. There are a variety of books that have been written such as the Prey series. Some of them are: “Winter Prey”, “Wicked Prey”, “Mortal Prey”, “Night Prey”, and “Mind Prey”. There are sixteen other novels within this series as well. He also has the Kidd series, Virgil Flowers, other novels such as the “Night Crew” and “Dead Watch”. When purchasing his books there is an “Order of John Sandford Books”. Some people may read his books out of order for instance his Prey series. All of his series are written in chronological order.
The Prey series is about a wealthy detective (Lucas Davenport), who attained his wealth by creating acute computer games. From the start, he works with the police department as a lieutenant but later hands in his resignation. He still helps the department with their more formidable cases. Lucas knows how to play mind games, and with his criminal mastermind, this makes him a great asset to solving crimes. This is just one of many examples of Sandford’s great work. As you get further into his series, things begin to change. It’s highly suggested that if you enjoy reading plot twists, you should start reading him today because you will be in for a treat.
Just be sure before you start to read these books that the “Order of John Sandford Books” are in the correct order. You don’t want to skip around and miss parts of the stories that may be crucial to understanding.
Two novels that were written were not approved before “The Fools Run”. One of them was called “The Chippewa Zoo” which was a near future science fiction novel. The other was called “The Wheel Key Number” and this was a realistic detective story. Neither of these will ever be published. “Silken Prey” has been his latest book which will be released sometime in May of 2013. After that he plans to begin his 24th novel of the Prey series. There is also another book on the way of the Virgil Flower series that will possibly be released late October of 2013. John Sandford has always been an outstanding author and always seems to amaze his audience. Be sure to be on the lookout for the books that will be released this year!

I got hooked on John Sandford from listening to ”
Night Prey” while stuck in traffic for hours. I have
been a loyal fan ever since.
keep writing,
John motto
All I can say is that if you are not reading Mr. Sanford’s books, you are missing out.
All of Lucas Davenport Series are awesome, I’ve been following the Prey series since the beginning thanks to my brother Virgil and of course we had to keep up with “Virgil Flowers” too! Now the newest series “Uncaged” “Outraged” and “Rampage” who doesn’t want to know what’s going to happen with Shay?
I just love Lucas Davenport but, more importantly,I love the way Sandford developed Virgil Flowers as a “minor” character into a MAJOR character & I now enjoy reading Flowers’ books more than Lucas….
Do the Kidd novels need to be read in order?
Yes, but just imo they aren’t as good as the “Prey” books or the Virgil Flowers books.
I don’t understand about books that aren’t approved, and can’t be published, why.
John Sandford is my favorite author! His books are so well written and his characters are always interesting. Especially Lucas Davenport and now, Virgil Flowers. I recommend reading the Prey series in order as Lucas Davenport’ s life continues in each one. Of course, some are better then others but they are all worth reading. John Sandford gets five stars from me and if I could give him a hundred-I would!
John Sandford is, in my opinion, the best detective/murder-mystery/ novelist of all time. If you read one of his books in the Prey series, I can just about guarantee you will read them all. Fantastic books with witty dialogue and flowing, easy to read prose make these books hard to put down. It is interesting to see how his characters develop and change throughout the series; and after reading a few of his Prey novels, you really come to care about the characters and want to know how their lives might come to change in the next book of the series. Some of his Prey novels are naturally better than others, but every single one of them will leave you satisfied with the book itself and hungry to read more.
