Laura Shepherd-Robinson Synopses: The Square of Sevens is a standalone novel by Laura Shepherd-Robinson. Cornwall, 1730: Red, a young girl traveling with her father, earns their keep by predicting fortunes with the ancient Cornish Square of Sevens. Before his death, her father leaves her in the care of a gentleman scholar, along with the guarded secret of the technique.
Raised as a lady in the elegance of Bath, Red captivates high society with her fortune telling. Yet questions haunt her – who was her mother, how did she die, and why did her father fear unseen enemies?
Her search for answers takes her from Cornwall’s coast to London’s bustling streets and Devon’s grand estates, from the raucous Bartholomew Fair to the halls of England’s most powerful families. But with each revelation, Red draws closer to peril – and the truth may cost her more than she’s willing to give.
The Art of a Lie by Laura Shepherd-Robinson is a standalone novel. After her husband is murdered in what appears to be a violent street robbery, Hannah Cole is left fighting to keep her life from crumbling. Her confectionary shop on Piccadilly teeters on the brink of ruin, her suppliers conspiring against her simply because she’s a woman in trade. To make matters worse, Henry Fielding – the celebrated author-turned-magistrate – threatens to seize her late husband’s banked fortune, convinced it was acquired through illicit means. Even Hannah’s so-called friends seem to harbor hidden agendas.
Only William Devereux appears to offer genuine aid. A friend of her late husband, he helps her piece together the mysteries surrounding his death. He introduces her to an Italian delicacy called iced cream – an idea Hannah believes could rescue her struggling shop. But as their friendship stirs gossip and draws Fielding’s relentless scrutiny, Hannah finds herself entangled in a dangerous battle of wits – one that could destroy her livelihood, her reputation, and even her life.
Blood & Sugar is a standalone title by Laura Shepherd-Robinson. June 1781. At Deptford Dock, an unidentified body hangs from a hook – branded with a slaver’s mark and bearing the signs of brutal torture.
Days later, Captain Harry Corsham, a celebrated war hero turned rising politician, is approached by the sister of Tad Archer, his long-lost friend and a fervent abolitionist. Tad had been on the verge of revealing a secret that could shatter Britain’s slaving industry. He warned people were trying to kill him. Now, he’s vanished.
To uncover the truth, Corsham must follow the dangerous trail his friend left behind – one that leads deep into a ruthless conspiracy. The closer he comes to the heart of the secret, the more he risks: his career, his family’s safety, and the exposure of his own buried past.
And survival is far from guaranteed in the shadows of Deptford…
