If You Like Carla Kelly Books, You’ll Love…
Carla Kelly Synopses: Libby’s London Merchant by Carla Kelly is the first book in the Benedict Nesbit series. Elizabeth “Libby” Ames has no idea who Nesbitt Duke really is when a London merchant takes a tumble right outside her uncle’s house. Ever the kind-hearted lady, she can’t resist helping him recover.
What Libby doesn’t know is that Benedict Nesbitt, Duke of Knaresborough, is hardly an accidental visitor. Disguised and on a secret mission for his best friend – who believes Libby’s fortune could solve his financial woes – he’s anything but straightforward.
Add in Anthony Cook, the shy and earnest country doctor who spots Duke’s more immediate troubles, and you’ve got a recipe for scandal, mischief, and romantic chaos. Between whispered secrets, stolen glances, and mistaken identities, hearts will be tested, desires ignited, and love might just find its way – after a few laugh-out-loud detours.
Borrowed Light by Carla Kelly is the first book in the Latter-day Saint Historical Romance series. Julia Darling never imagined she’d be cooking for cowboys in Wyoming, but breaking off her engagement in Salt Lake City gives her the perfect excuse to escape. Determined to see her new job through, Julia faces her greatest challenge yet: letting go of borrowed light and discovering her own voice.
Marrying the Captain is the first book of the Channel Fleet series by Carla Kelly. Eleanor “Nana” Massie has always valued her independence above all else, even if it means scraping by in poverty – especially after her father once tried to sell her to the highest bidder. But her carefully guarded world is upended when Captain Oliver Worthy arrives at her struggling inn. Despite herself, Nana finds herself drawn to the charming and mysterious gentleman.
Oliver had intended only a brief stay in Plymouth, reporting back to Lord Ratliffe about Nana. But as he uncovers Ratliffe’s secret schemes, he will do whatever it takes to protect this courageous, captivating woman – even if it means proposing marriage to her.
Daughter of Fortune is a standalone novel by Carla Kelly. Maria Espinosa should not have survived. Orphaned by the 1679 cholera epidemic in Mexico City and widowed of fortune, she barely escapes an Apache raid on the caravan taking her to a sister in remote Santa Fe, in the royal colony of New Mexico. Rejected by her sister for her penniless state, Maria must navigate a harsh and unforgiving land, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.
A charismatic Tewa Indian named Popé is determined to expel the hated European overlords, and Maria’s supposed refuge proves anything but safe. Taken in by a Spanish ranching family living uneasily among the Pueblo Indians, her beauty and spirit ignite a rivalry between two brothers – one a Spaniard, the other half-Indian. Amidst this turbulence, Maria discovers a rare gift: the ability to carve discarded wood into intricate statues of saints. She learns that grace can transform objects of little value into masterpieces – but can she uncover the secrets buried within her own heart?
Caught between love, loyalty, and survival, Maria must decide whether her future lies in security, in passion, or in embracing the power she never knew she possessed.
