Catching Lucy serves as the introductory novella in the Lucy and Harris series by Terri Anne Browning. It offers a short but important glimpse into the early stages of the relationship between Lucy Thornton and Harris Cutter.
Lucy, known as the Princess Rocker, was adopted by Jesse Thornton, the drummer for the famous rock band, Demon’s Wings, after her mother’s death when she was just four years old. Her older sister took on a maternal role in her life, and Lucy’s world revolved around her adoptive family.
Harris Cutter, on the other hand, is the son of Devin Cutter, the drummer for the renowned rock band OtherWorld. The two bands, Demon’s Wings and OtherWorld, share the same manager, tour together frequently, and are like one big family. Despite their five-year age gap, Lucy and Harris grew up together and developed a deep friendship.
As Lucy reached the age of eleven and Harris was sixteen, she began to develop feelings for him, leading her to distance herself when he started dating. “Catching Lucy” picks up the story when Lucy is seventeen, and Harris has just graduated from college. He returns home with the dream of opening his own club, First Bass.
While Catching Lucy is a short novella that primarily sets the stage for the series, it doesn’t delve deeply into the characters’ development. The story serves as a brief introduction, and it may leave readers wanting more substance. Fortunately, the rest of the series has been released, allowing readers to continue the journey and explore the characters’ depth in subsequent books.
