Acorn Purchases Majority Stake in Agatha Christie Estate
The Acorn Media Group has purchased a majority stake in Agatha Christie’s literacy estate.
Chorion sold their 64% controlling interest in Agatha Christie Limited to Acorn, which amounts to 80 novels and short story collections, 19 plays and almost 40 television movies. And of course, the rights to the Agatha Christie characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.
The remaining 36% of her estate belongs to Mathew Prichard, her grandson. “My family and I are delighted to be forming a new partnership with Acorn Media, which I am sure will … produce much more Agatha Christie material for fans everywhere, particularly in the U.S.,” Prichard said. “I remain grateful to my colleagues at Chorion for nearly 13 years of fruitful partnership.”
Acorn has been coming out with television adaptations of Christie’s work since 2001. More content based on Christie’s work and characters has recently been ordered and is in development.
