Scholastic has announced that over 50 million copies of the popular The Hunger Games series have been sold in print and digital formats. Since the series first came out in Fall 2008, the series has seen steady growth in sales.

The 50 million figure includes 23 million copies of The Hunger Games, 14 million of Catching Fire and 13 million of Mockingjay.

“Readers across the nation are captivated by the rich world and strong characters Suzanne Collins has created,” said Ellie Berger, President of Scholastic Trade Publishing. “It’s thrilling to see teen and adult readers enthralled by the same story and engaged in conversation about these books.”

The trilogy has spent 31 straight weeks at #1 of the New York Times Bestseller List in the Children’s Series category. The trilogy has been sold in 50 languages to date.
