Stephen King is currently working on the sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, but meanwhile Warner Bros. is looking at a film prequel to the film directed by the late Stanley Kubrick.

The studio has contacted writer/producer Laeta Kalogridis and partners Bradley Fischer and James Vanderbilt about working on a story for the potential sequel.

A spokesman from Warner Bros. has noted that any sequel would be in an embryotic stage and not even officially in development as of yet. Fans of Stephen King and The Shining should focus their energies on looking forward to Doctor Sleep.
