With the fifth novel of the Flavia de Luce series coming out, the 11 year-old detective is also going to be making her way to television. “It’s incredible, it’s almost unbelievable,” says author Alan Bradley regarding the fact that Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty) will be at the helm of the proposed series.


Flavia de Luce is the central character in a series of mystery novels by Canadian novelist Alan Bradley. Flavia is an 11 year-old girl who is fascinated by chemistry. Also known as The Buckshaw Chronicles, the series is set in 1950s England. The television rights to the series have been optioned by Sam Mendes.


Alan Bradley is a Canadian author of mystery novels. During his high school years, rather than socializing, Alan would spend his spare time reading at the cemetery.
