With the fifth novel of the Flavia de Luce series coming out, the 11 year-old detective is also going to be making her way to television.

“It’s incredible, it’s almost unbelievable,” says author Alan Bradley regarding the fact that Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty) will be at the helm of the proposed series.

However, Bradley wasn’t just going to sell the rights to the series at the drop of a hat.

“I didn’t think it was a particularly good idea, unless it happened to be the right person and it were done in the right way. I think I had felt that a British-produced television series was probably the only way to go. I’ve never seen it as a Hollywood movie.”
