For mechanical engineer Cass Jennings, the remote Antarctic station offers a chance to leave behind the guilt of her troubled past and start over. But when a fellow crew member dies, a string of mysterious incidents threatens the safety and sanity of the station’s forty-four occupants. Trapped in an unforgiving environment with no contact with the outside world, the crew must decide whether to trust one another or give in to suspicion and fear. As tensions rise and an unknown threat puts the entire station at risk, Cass must confront her past and find a way to survive before everyone becomes a victim.

Eight years after the murder of his daughter, former criminal psychologist Elliott Nash has lost nearly everything, including his marriage, career, and home. Her daughter, Lacey, was kidnapped a year earlier, and although the police have made little progress, Amy refuses to believe she is dead. She has uncovered a disturbing connection between Lacey and six other missing children, all from broken homes and all abducted around their birthdays. For Elliott, the investigation offers a chance at redemption, but following the clues through the city’s darkest corners reveals unsettling secrets and hidden dangers. As the search intensifies, Elliott and Amy discover that everyone seems to have something to hide, and finding the truth may prove more dangerous than either imagined.
