Jenny Slate is an American actress, comedian, and author. She is the creator of the Marcel the Shell With Shoes On videos which were later made into children’s books. She released her first collection of essays in 2019 with Little Weirds.
Slate was born in 1982 in Milton, Massachusetts. She would go on to attend Columbia University as a literature major and became involved in improv at this time. She made numerous guest appearances on television programs before getting her first major film role in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. She won a Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy for 2014’s Obvious Child. Jenny worked on the TV show Big Mouth, voicing a mixed race character, but ultimately decided to leave as she believed black characters should be voiced by black people. She has two children.
