Josh Malerman is an American author who burst onto the scene with his debut novel Bird Box. The book was made into a film by Netflix starring Sandra Bullock that was a major hit for the streaming service and spawned many memes.
In addition to being a novelist, Malerman is also the singer/songwriter of The High Strung. The Detroit rock band toured for years, playing an average of 250 shows per year and Malerman did much of his writing in the passenger seat of vans while on tour. It was a good friend of his who read the book and asked his permission to send it to some people he knew, and the rest is history. Despite his success as a writer, Malerman is still working on a new album with the High Strung.

Bird Box is Malerman’s debut novel and this one is a doozy. There is something terrible out there that is driving people to deadly violence when they see it. She has a dream of getting them someplace safe, but the journey will be dangerous as they will need to be blindfolded. One look at this thing and it will happen to them too.
Malerman followed that book up with Unbury Carol. The book follows Carol Evers who has a unique and dark secret: she’s died man times and she always comes back. Her deaths are never final and she wakes up as if from a coma. Only two people know of her condition and one of them is seeking to take advantage of it and steal her money. The other is a long lost love, an outlaw, who will have to come to save her from the dreadful plan.
