Mike Maden is an American author who, like many, grew up loving John Clancy novels. He got the greatest reward for his fandom of all as he was selected to join “The Campus” to write Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Jr. series.

Maden grew up living a very hard life with a lot of manual labor. He was in California’s San Jaoquin Valley and spent time working in canneries, feed mills, and slaughterhouses – it doesn’t get much harder than that. His interest in history and warfare led them to attending college and earning a PhD in political science. His first published novel was Drone.

If You Like Mike Maden Books, You’ll Love…

Maden’s first book Drone follows Troy Pearce in the first of his series. Pearce is the CEO of a private security firm that specializes in drone technology. He’s a former CIA SOG operative and has mostly tried to leave that life behind. When a pair of drug cartel hit men go after a group of American students, those plans are out the window. Pearce sees his company authorized by the President to locate and destroy the killers, by any means necessary. Pearce will have to rely on his old skills and his company’s might to get this job done, before more Americans are hurt.

Point of Contact is one of Maden’s best entries in the Jack Ryan Jr. series. The book sees Defense contractor (and former US Senator) West Rhodes in need of help for his company and he calls in two analysts to help, Paul Brown and Jack Ryan Jr. The two get to work, despite their difference, and are predictably great at their jobs. When the mission’s success is about to happen, Brown discovers a game within the game, and suddenly Ryan and Brown find their lives at risk.
