W. Bruce Cameron is an American author and columnist perhaps best known for his work on A Dog’s Purpose which was later made into a major motion picture. Even as a young man growing up, Cameron always knew he wanted to be a writer. He sold his first story to the Kansas City Star when he was just sixteen and continued to work towards a career in writing after that.
His major breakout was writing a column called “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Daughter” which was later turned into an actual book and then it became a major television show starring the late John Ritter. He continued writing columns for some time after that before returning to his early life’s passion: writing fiction.

A Dog’s Purpose may be W. Bruce Cameron’s best known work as it is considered a modern classic and spent time on the New York Times bestseller list. This is a heartwarming book that has moments that are laugh out loud funny. It tells the story of a loyal dog who finds the meaning of his own life through his connection to the humans he is surrounded with. The story tells the story from the dog’s point of view as he deals with trials and tribulations of human relationships.
Cameron followed that book up with A Dog’s Journey which follows a good dog named Buddy. This one tells the story of Buddy as he thinks he’s finished his life purpose until he meets a baby named Clarity who he believes needs a dog of her own. His new destiny sees him reconnect with Clairty as a troubled teenager in need of a good dog. These books both attempt to answer the eternal question: do we take care of our pets, or do they take care of us?
