Order of Spider Shepherd Books
Spider Shepherd is the protagonist in a series of action-thriller/hardboiled mystery novels by British author Stephen Leather. Dan Shepherd, also known as “Spider,” is a former SAS trooper who is now a detective who works in an elite undercover squad.
Stephen Leather debuted his Spider Shepherd character with the novel Hard Landing, published in 2004. The series is currently ongoing. If you wish to read the series in chronological order, you might want to read the prequel novellas first. Spider Shepherd Synopses: Hard Landing is the first novel in Stephen Leather’s Spider Shepherd series. For “Spider” Dan Shepherd, putting his life at risk is a regular part of the job. He works for an elite undercover squad and had to lie, cheat and con in order to put the most wanted in Britain behind bars. But when a drug lord is killing off his witnesses, Shepherd must go undercover into a high-security prison. There, if he makes the wrong move, it could easily mean his end. What he doesn’t realize, however, is that this man can strike outside prison walls and hit him when he least expects it.
Friendly Fire is an action-packed 14,000 word short story from Stephen Leather. Set in November 2001, the story features his character Dan “Spider” Shepherd when he was in the SAS in Afghanistan. He is sent on a mission into a Taliban stronghold where he must track down Osama bin Laden.
Kill Zone is short story from Stephen Leather, again featuring Spider Shepherd. The story is slightly under 15,000 words and 30 pages. The story once again in Afghanistan, on the trail of a Taliban assassin.
