Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is looking more like a filmmaker than an author these days. She has optioned the rights to the 1974 young adult suspense novel Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan to adapt it into a film.

“Not too much information to share as yet, but even in this early stage, it is still very exciting,” Meyer wrote in a blog. “Down a Dark Hall was my favorite of [Duncan’s] novels… and it gave me some serious nightmares when I was nine.”

Meyer is also producing the feature film adaptation of her novel The Host, which is currently shooting. She has also produced writer-director Jerusha Hess’ comedy Austenland, about a Jane Austen fanatic (played by Keri Russell).
