Vesper Holly is the protagonist in a series of young adult adventure novels by American novelist Lloyd Alexander. Vesper is an orphan, whose father disappeared while on an expedition to Illyria in the Balkans. She is now being looked after by her aunt and uncle while she goes on adventures around the world.
The Chronicles of Prydain is a series of children’s high fantasy novels by American author Lloyd Alexander. The series follows Taran from a young age as he grows up throughout the novels. Taran starts out as Assistant Pig-Keeper, but has dreams of becoming a hero. The series draws strongly from Welsh mythology.
Lloyd Alexander (1924-2007) was an American author of fantasy novels for young adults and children. He is best known for his Chronicles of Prydain series and is also the author of the Vesper Holly series and Westmark Trilogy. He won the Newbery Medal for his 1969 novel The High King.
