What you have here, up through 2006 on the Leaphorn and Chee list, are Tony Hillerman books – written BY Tony Hillerman, certainly not Anne Hillerman “WITH Tony Hillerman,” as if they were co-writers.

From 2013 on, Anne Hillerman steps in and takes over her late father’s characters.

Despite the father-daughter relationship, these are two separate writers, each working independently. Why combine their lists? Doing so blurs the accomplishments of each.

The listing should have specified which author wrote which book. I’ve updated that. Thanks.

Hmmm…just found this. Unfortunately I guess, it is one of the few audios of his that I own.

Tony Hillerman’s “The Fly on the Wall” is not one of his “Leaphorn & Chee” novels. It’s a mystery set in nameless non-Western state capital. Unfortunately, it’s not a very good book. First of all, the story is all about politics.

Yep that’s correct – Tony wrote that one by himself so doesn’t show up on Annes page, and it is a standalone novel.

I loved the first Leaphorn/Chee novel by Anne Hillerman. No doubt she has her dad’s talent. If I hadn’t known that it was her I would have thought it was Tony. Can’t wait to read the next one, just saw that there was a next one by seeing this site. My husband and I travel to New Mexico at least once a year and love the landscape. I read Tony’s books to him on the road…it is fun to picture them coming to life while driving through God’s country. Thanks, Maret from San Antonio, Texas
