The Last Hurrah is the first book in the Phoebe Korneal Mystery series. The book takes place in Green County, high in the Rocky Mountains. Phoebe heads her to start her life over after heartbreak and disillusionment became her life in Utah. She joins the Sheriff’s Office as a deputy and detective where she is reunited with childhood friends. Phoebe has her first case when Old Al, the community’s resident gold prospector, is found dead. She’ll set out to solve whether this death was an accident or if something sinister happened because gold is involved. Korneal will seek to prove herself to the people of her now hometown.
The Phoebe Korneal series continues with The Last Slide. This story takes place as winter is closing in around Christmastime. The first big storm of the season covers Oresville in a blanket of snow and the mountains shimmer in the sun. Up the peaks of the mountain, a truck has run off the mountain trail. Was this simply an accident or bad driving, or something more? That’ll be up to Phoebe to figure out.
