Geoffrey Archer is an English author and former journalist. He is best known as the author of the Sam Packer series of books.
Archer worked for thirty years as a television journalist before leaving that career. He is a former reporter for ITV News out of the United Kingdom where he covered multiple big news events, including the conflicts in Belfast, Beirut, and Bosnia. He made many close contacts with the military in his work which helped to inform his books and inspire stories. He wrote while working at ITV, but in 1995 he left to write full-time.

Fire Hawk is the first book in the Sam Packer series. The lead character is a member of the British Secret Service and this story follows him as he is given a dangerous mission to Iraq. After arriving at his hotel a whispered secret leads to him being kidnapped and tortured with worse on the way. He is saved from death by an ex-lover who arranges a hostage swap to get him released. Shortly after, his ex-lover is murdered for knowing too much. It turns out there is a terror weapon named Fire Hawk which may be used against the West. Sam will follow the weapon and the past of his dead lover in order to uncover the mystery and stop a potential attack.
Archer is also the author of Dark Angel, a standalone novel. Tom Sedley is on summer vacation when he gets the devastating news that his sister has been murdered. A man was arrested for the crime, but Tom always had questions and sought to find the truth. He is sent off to the Korean War along with a neighbor, Tom. He returns two years later and finds his sister’s diary which could lead him to finding out the truth.
