Shade Me is the first book in the Nikki Kill/Shade Me series of books. The book follows Nikki who sees the world in her own way thanks to a rare phenomenon called synesthesia where she can see emotions through colors. One night she gets a phone call which asks her to identify a Jane Doe who is barely hanging on to her life. The Jane Doe is a popular girl from Nikki’s high school named Peyton. The two hardly know each other, but for some reason Nikki was the only phone number in her phone. Now, she sets out to find the truth behind the mysterious attack. A search that leads her to Dru, her handsome older brother.
Hate List begins as Valerie is looking to recover from a tragic event. Her boyfriend opened fire on the school cafeteria five months ago and she saved a classmate while trying to stop him. Unfortunately, she was also implicated in the event because of a list that the two created together: a hate list of students that he used to select his victims. The story picks up as Valerie returns to school for her senior year. She is haunted by the past and dealing with rocky relationships on all sides. She’ll need to come to acceptance with the past and everything that happened if she hopes to have a future.
