Ransom Riggs is an American author of young adult and children’s novels and non-fiction books. He writes the Miss Peregrine series. Riggs was educated at the Pine View School for the Gifted, studied English literature at Kenyon College and then film at the University of Southern California. As a filmmaker, his short films resulted in him getting the opportunity to write the Sherlock Holmes film tie-in book entitled The Sherlock Holmes Handbook. He lives in Southern California and is married to fellow YA novelist Tahereh Mafi.
Ransom Riggs became a published author in 2009 with the non-fiction book The Sherlock Holmes Handbook: The Methods and Mysteries of the World’s Greatest Detective.
