Joanna Piercy Synopsis: In Winding Up the Serpent by Priscilla Masters (book 1 of the series), Detective Inspector Joanna Piercy breaks into the house of missing nurse Marilyn Smith. She finds Marilyn upstairs, spreadeagled across the bed, provocatively dressed and elaborately made up… and dead as a doornail. Despite a lack of evidence at the postmortem, Piercy is convinced that Marilyn was murdered. As both a newcomer and a female in the town, she must fight longstanding prejudices in her determination to track down the killer. But could she be wrong? Is it possible that Marilyn Smith’s death was not murder after all?
