Smoky Barrett is the female protagonist in a series of thriller novels by American novelist Cody McFadyen. Smoky Barrett is an FBI special agent who tracks down serial killers and brings them to justice. Or she was, until her husband and daughter were killed and her face was scarred in an attack.
Cody McFadyen began his Smoky Barrett series in 2006 with the novel Shadow Man. The most recent novel in the series was published in 2009, entitled Abandoned. Below is a list of Cody McFadyen’s Smoky Barrett books in order of when they were first published (which is also their chronological order):

In Abandoned (book 4 in the Smoky Barrett series), during a wedding of one of Barrett’s co-workers, an incoherent woman makes her surprise entrance. A fingerprint check reveals that the woman has been missing for eight years. Her kidnapper had her captured her, imprisoned her and destroyed her psychologically.
