With the release of Nevermore, James Patterson has concluded his eight-book long Maximum Ride YA fantasy series. Nevermore‘s cover includes an “RIP” stick on the cover to make it 100% clear to readers that this is the end.

“I know some kids are going to be crying at the end,” Patterson said. “But it’s over,” following up with a spoiler, “It’s the end of the series. It’s not the end of Max.”

Patterson remains optimistic that the series, which has been optioned by Universal Pictures, will see the big screen.

“Maximum Ride is so visual, more so than Twilight or Iron Man,” he says.

At the end of the novel is the first 29 pages of Patterson’s next new series, Confessions of a Murder Suspect for readers 12 and up.
