Dianne Freeman was a lover of reading from a young age and when her mother introduced her to the works of Edith Wharton and Agatha Christie, she was hooked. She would develop a love for writing as well, but her real life got in the way for a long time and work got busy.

She worked in corporate finance for a number of years and even wrote a non-fiction book, but writing was always on the back burner to work and family. When she retired she finally decided to give writing the chance she had long been dying to give it. Inspired by the novels she loved as a youth, she chose historical mysteries and the rest is history.

A Lady’s Guide to Etiquette and Murder was the first book in her Countess of Harleigh Mystery series. The book centers on Frances Wynn, an American Countess, who is recently widowed. She’s spent her time mourning her late husband and is now enjoying a freedom that she never felt as a married woman. She heads to Belgravia with her sister to get away from her in-laws, but is soon drawn back in when she is accused of murdering her husband. A series of burglaries around London has piqued her interest as well and her own investigation into the matter will bring more death to her. The Countess has her hands full in this one.

The follow-up to that book is called A Lady’s Guide to Gossip and Murder. Frances is looking to spend a quiet summer in London. She has hopes of her friend Mary possibly being a suitable bride for her cousin Charles, but that turned out to be for naught. Now, Mary is found dead and Charles is the prime suspect. He’ll need his clever aunt to help clear him, but what they don’t know is the multitude of secrets that Mary was keeping.
