The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Britney Spears is close to signing a deal with It Books – an imprint of HarperCollins that is also publishing an upcoming Whitney Houston biography. Surprisingly, the book deal is for a novel based on some of her real-life experiences. Interesting news to say the least!

Walker Books UK has acquired worldwide rights for two more Alex Rider graphic novels, based on Anthony Horowitz‘ series. The adaptations for Scorpia and Ark Angel will be written by Anthony Johnston. The series has reportedly topped 70,000 in sales.

Women’s fiction author Emily Giffin has signed a two-book deal with Ballantine Books, an imprint of Random House. She was previously with St. Martin’s Press. Her first novel under the Ballantine banner will be released in 2014 and will be edited by Jennifer Hershey.

The cover for the final book in Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series has been released. The series about telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse started in Dead Until Dark in 2001. It was then picked up by HBO and made into the hit series True Blood.

CSI creator Anthony Zuiker is working on developing a new adaptation of Lewis Carroll‘s Alice in Wonderland for NBC. The series will be set following the original story, years after Alice’s initial visit to Wonderland. The project will be written by Whit Anderson.
