Kate Ellis is an English author of crime fiction novels. She writes the Wesley Peterson series and the Joe Plantagenet series. Kate was born in Liverpool, England and studied drama in Manchester. She has worked in the teaching, marketing and accountancy fields she became a writer. She has always been interested in crime as well as history and archaeology – both of which are major themes in her novels. Kate is a member of The Detection Club, Crime Writers Association and the Murder Squad. She lives in North Cheshire, England with her husband and has two adult sons.

Kate Ellis Synopsis:The Merchant’s House by Kate Ellis is the first novel to feature D.S. Wesley Peterson. Most black officers might not want a transfer to the West Country, but it’s home for Wesley Peterson. Soon after his move, he bumps into a friend named Neil who is heading a dig at a Tudor merchant’s house. Wesley has to pull himself away in order to look for a missing child. A body is found at Neil’s dig, but it’s over 400 years old. More than 400 years ago, someone strangled a young woman and her newborn baby. But then, a more contemporary body is found and the child’s disappearance begins to become more complex.
