Monsieur Pamplemousse is a series of books by Michael Bond that delve into the genres of culinary mystery, cozy mystery, and detective fiction. The books all revolve around the lead character, Monsieur Pamplemousse, who is a French food inspector and a part-time detective. The books often feature tongue in cheek plots with an intriguing cast of characters and suspects.
The series is authored by Michael Bond who may be best known for the Paddington Bear series of books. Bond was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2015. Bond wrote 21 books in this series before he passed away in June of 2017.

If You Like Monsieur Pamplemousse Books, You’ll Love…
The first book in the series is the self-title, Monsieur Pamplemousse. This one sees Pamplemousse getting the chance to dine at the famed La Langoustine. Pamplemousse is, as always, accompanied by his faithful bloodhound, Pommes Frites. The signs are promising for the restaurant to win a third Red Stockpot, but things get complicated when he is set to dig in to his chicken wrapped in a pig’s bladder and stuffed with truffles and foie gras, but ends up finding something far more grisly under the outer casing. Pamplemousse has another case on his hands as it appears someone wants him out of the way.
Another great book in the series is Monsieur Pamplemousse on Vacation. This one sees Pamplemousse taking a break in the South of France where he is set to collect a piece of artwork for his employer. He is set to meet up with his contact before enjoying vacation, but his contact never shows and then a dismembered body washes up on the shores outside of his hotel. Vacation time is over and it’s back on the case for Pamplemousse and his dog, Pommes Frites.
