Daphne du Maurier (1907-1989) was an English novelist, short story writer and playwright. Three of her works were adapted to film by Alfred Hitchcock (Rebecca, Jamaica Inn and The Birds) and another story, Don’t Look Now, was adapted to film by Nicolas Roeg. Du Maurier’s grandfather was artist/writer George du Maurier, while her father was actor George du Maurier.
