
American author George R.R. Martin (or “GRRM” for short) is best known for his Game Of Thrones novels that have recently been adapted into a popular fantasy HBO television series. In 2011, he was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
In addition to the Game Of Thrones book series, GRRM has always written several standalone novels (including one children’s novel – The Ice Dragon). More than just a novelist, Martin has also written teleplays for The Twilight Zone, Beauty and the Beast as well as his own Game Of Thrones TV series and is continuously proving his versatility as a writer. Martin continues to write Game Of Thrones books, with two more forthcoming.

Where are Sandkings and Portraits of His Children? I think there are many other 20th century works are missing from this list.
I always recommend Tuf Voyaging (mentioned below) and Sandkings to people crying for the next “Ice and Fire” book.
