If You Like Jami Attenberg Books, You’ll Love…

One of Attenberg’s best selling books is All Grown Up. The book follows Andrea Bern, a young woman getting old who thinks that everyone around her has a different idea of what it means to be an adult. Her life is changed when she becomes an aunt and her niece is born with a heartbreaking ailment. The Bern family is forced to reexamine what it is in their life that really matters, and they are either going to be driven together or torn apart. This book is extremely honest while also maintaining it’s humor which shows Attenberg’s power as a storyteller.

Of course, Attenberg’s debut was The Kept Man. Jarvis Miller is in an extremely tough situation as her husband has been in a coma for the past six years which has kept her between hope and grief, missing her husband and marriage while knowing that it was slipping away. Jarvis’ life gets some hope when she meets a new group of friends who call themselves the Kept Man club. The group are all men whose lifestyles are funded by their successful wives and they help Jarvis to move on with her life and open herself to a world of possibility.
